Overview

This course develops an awareness of the issues surrounding night incontinence and how to address them. Designed for carers and nurses, the course covers the importance of sleep for the elderly and good practice routines to minimise the impact of incontinence on sleep.

Increase ability to organise incontinence care to accommodate the special needs of residents with dementia with specific reference to:

  • Resident well-being
  • High caregiver workload
  • Making it easier for residents to toilet themselves
  • Choosing appropriate products to facilitate self-changing and toileting
  • Interacting appropriately with residents in incontinence-related situations
Course Content

The course will cover topics like:

  • Common types of dementia
  • The typical behavioural impact of dementia
  • Good practice dementia-related incontinence care

Estimated duration
30 minutes.

Target audience
This course is aimed at any staff working in an aged care facility required to undertake incontinence training.
