Course Details

e3learning, in conjunction with Workcover Corporation, have developed a series of courses covering hazardous substance use in the workplace. The three courses are aimed at:

• Employees in occasional contact with hazardous substances
• Employees in regular contact with hazardous substances
• Managers & Supervisors responsible for areas where hazardous substances are used

Throughout the courses, interactive workplace simulations and animations develop and reinforce the participant’s understanding of hazardous substances and how to work with them safely.

Learning Outcomes

• Your role and responsibilities in relation to hazardous substances
• The methods and procedures for safe hazardous substance use according to role
• How to fulfill your responsibilities in relation to hazardous substances
• How to keep safe when working near or with hazardous substances

Hazardous Substances for Employees (occasional contact)

The occasional contact course covers:

• How to identify and assess hazardous substances
• Methods of exposure to hazardous substances
• How hazardous substances are controlled in the workplace
• Employee rights and responsibilities in relation to hazardous substances

Target audience
The course has been designed to provide training for all staff in occasional contact with hazardous substances.

Hazardous Substances for Employees (regular contact)

The regular contact course covers:

• Standard operating procedures
• How to label hazardous substances
• Material Safety Data Sheets
• Common methods of control and signage

40 Minutes

Target audience
The course has been designed to provide training for all staff in regular contact with hazardous substances.

Hazardous Substances for Employers

The employer course covers:

• Legal requirements in relation to hazardous substances
• Developing health and safety policies and procedures for purchasing hazardous substances
• Use and disposal of hazardous substances
• Role of the supplier of hazardous substances
• Hazard management process in relation to hazardous substances
• Risk control in relation to hazardous substances
