Overview

This course is about Managing Heavy Vehicle Driver Fatigue. It is designed to meet the theoretical requirements of competency 'TLIF1007C - Apply Fatigue Management Strategies'.

The course is funded under the Workplace English Language and Literacy programme by the Commonwealth through the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations.

The course is a critical element in delivering high quality online training for operators of heavy motor vehicles and draws on expert content developed with the Transport Workers Union in SA. The course uses audio, case studies, interactivity, photos, animations, assessment and video to instruct learners in understanding the causes of fatigue and the development of strategies in the management of fatigue.

This course is designed to cater for new laws impacting on Fatigue Management in Australia.

  • A practical understanding of how to minimise the risk of operating a heavy vehicle for work.
  • Achieving the theoretical component of the competency ‘TLIF1007C – Apply Fatigue Management Strategies’.
Course Content

The course covers:

  • Causes of driver fatigue and how fatigue can affect you in the workplace
  • New laws and what they mean for you
  • Responsibilities are under the new driving options, and how they are different depending on whether you are an employee driver or an owner / operator.
  • Using the supply chain to help you manage your fatigue
  • Practical ways to deal with fatigue and to meet your responsibilities under the new laws

The course has been designed for operators of heavy vehicles in the course of their work.

Accreditation
If delivered with an appropriate RTO, this course can be formally assessed to achieve the unit of competency ‘TLIF1007C – Apply Fatigue Management Strategies’.
