This course has been designed to teach staff about Basic Life Support, referred to as BLS, within the health care environment, and is based on the Australian Resuscitation Council 2006 Guidelines. This has been a joint project between e3Learning and Grampians Health. This session has been Endorsed for 2 CNE points by APEC No :060314265 as authorised by Royal College of Nursing, Australia, according to approved criteria.

Learning Outcomes

The aim of this course is to assist clinical and non-clinical health service staff understand key principles associated with performing effective BLS.

Following completion of this course, you should be able to:

  • identify situations the require you to implement cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • recall essential ARC principles for performing effective CPR, and
  • identify those circumstances where CPR should be ceased.

Estimated duration
This course should take about 45-60 minutes to complete. Education staff at your facility will require you to successfully complete this course before you undergo a practical assessment of your BLS skills.

This course is designed for Nursing staff required to undertake BLS training.
